A Rant - 14 October 2020

I felt the need to put my feelings ‘in print’ today. I asked my tarot deck for guidance and they gave me The World so I’m going to connect to spirit and ramble on in the hope that I make sense.

The ‘civilised’ world today wherever you look is in absolute chaos. In the main, that’s our fault. We’ve over farmed, overhunted, overeaten, overspent. In fact, every ‘over’ you can think of. We are supposedly the most intelligent beings on this great planet, and that intelligence has led to many great inventions, cures, and machines to make our lives easier. But and this is a BIG but, want has taken over from need. None of us are blameless, so don’t kid yourself. Did you NEED that new TV? Did you NEED that new tarot deck? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging anyone for enjoying the fruits of their hard-earned labour. I bought a new Oracle deck myself this week! My point is that demand across the world is so excessive that it’s killing our planet.

If you look at nature, the ‘uncivilised’ world, everything is so much simpler. Sure nature has pressures too; planning where the next meal is coming from, where is it safe to rest, am I going to be hunted to extinction? Nature though doesn’t feel pressured to conform, it feels no pressure to buy the next top of the range mobile phone, no pressure to put the hours in at work, and certainly no pressure to pay the bills.

It’s time for us to make a change, both globally and personally. Do you need to drive each time you need to pop down to the shops for a loaf of bread? Can you shower rather than bath? Can you buy from a local business rather than a huge multi million pound/dollar company?

I resent and blame a lot of these large companies for the state we’re in today. Clever marketing, cheap labour, algorithms and greed have annihilated small and local businesses. I think it’s time to take a stand and make a difference. If everybody made a small change in their day to day lives, things would improve.

The state of our world, and a lot of the people in it that are living a life lacking in spirituality and awareness is another matter, and certainly a subject for another blog.

Our Earth has provided the food we eat, and the air we breathe for millennia. We need to look after our planet the way it has looked after us. Let’s go back to basics.
